For Term 2 in the Ark we are really focusing on integration with our mainstream classes and also reverse integration, where our friends from mainstream come to the Ark classroom for a visit. We started integration last term but have turned it up a couple of notches! We have been working so hard with mainstream teachers, SNA’s and of course the boys and girls from both mainstream class and the Ark who have been so welcoming and supportive to all. It been a long time since we have integrated because of the Coronavirus but the children have rejoined their classes like fish to water! Not only have they joined classes like Phonics, SESE and Art but they have taken part in concerts and outings with their classes. There’s a lot more planned for the rest of the year so watch this space!

Even though Halloween was last month, we are still talking about the great day we had in the Ark. We finished our spooky work and got ready to party with the rest of the school! We had so much fun, dancing, meeting family in the school and playing spooky games. Cant wait for next year!
BEEBOTS! The Ark class really enjoyed their Beebots Lesson this morning. Everyone was busy learning about coding and algorithms. They got their Bee Robots moving firstly around the table and then around a farm, finding all the farm animals.
Last week the Ark finished Music Generation with Julia and we had so much fun! The boys and girls enjoyed the sounds and feel of the Violin, Cello and the Flute. They also played the drums and lots of percussion instruments. Every lesson had a different instrument and we also played lots of musical games. A very busy month in the Ark, preparing for the Christmas Concert and meeting the big man himself! The SNA’s wrote a beautiful Christmas story staring the children in the Ark. The children then read their story for the Christmas show and they did brilliantly! Lots of hard work and practice for the show, I hope you all enjoyed it!
We also had a visit from the big man himself! Everyone was so excited to see him and he knew all the boys and girls, checking the addresses and making sure that he had the right house for Christmas eve.
He was very happy to see everyone and told them that they would get extra presents because they have worked so hard all year. Thank you Santa for visiting and Happy Christmas from the Ark!!
What a busy month October has been. We started the month celebrating First Holy Communion in St. Josephs church. Two children from the Ark made their Communion and we had a wonderful day. Congratulations to all the children from 3rd Class.
We celebrated First Holy Communion in class the following Monday with a pizza party. We also two birthdays this month and enjoyed lots of chocolate cake!
We needed to get up and active after all those treats so we set up some circuits for P.E and went for some lovely Autumn nature walks and lovely colorful Autumn leaves.
Coillte in partnership with the Tree Council of Ireland and Spar gifted a Wild White Cherry Tree sapling to the school in honor of National Tree Week. The children from the Ark planted it in courtyard 3 and will transfer it to the green area in the school when it is big enough. We will take great care of it.
We were also quite busy with our school work this month and enjoyed new reading activities, visits to the Library and Math’s Week! We got busy with interactive whiteboard math activities and enjoyed the Math’s Trail organised by Ms Kelly.
The best part of the month was preparing for Halloween! We made lots of beautiful decorations, Tea light candle holders, carved pumpkins, enjoyed Halloween sensory activities and dressed up! So many scary Ghosts and Zombies and Werewolves!
That’s it for this month, looking forward to seeing what November brings!
And just like that, it was September and we were back in the Ark. The month of September just flew by ! We were so excited to see everyone back after summer camp. We also welcomed our newest member of the Ark! She is enjoying every minute of her time with us and we are having so much fun with her! Say hello to all in the Ark:
We had such a busy month and got straight back into the swing of things
As the weather was good, we took full advantage and got to try out our new kite and bubble machine.
We also had some fun in the courtyard, some lovely nature walks and some all important chill time on the new couch
We also said goodbye to Johnny. We are so sad to see him go, he was everyone’s good friend and we will miss him so much in the Ark. Best of luck Johnny and call to see us someday!
Hello!
We’ve had a busy few weeks in the Ark. We learned about the farm, started learning about time and enjoyed our usual fun sensory and sorting activities.
When the weather has been good, we took the opportunity to visit the park in Sligo It and the Famine Graveyard for nature and history walks.
And after all that, we still managed to do some baking and have fun in the playground at breaktime.
