Hazelwood Trip

As part of the research study the Junior Infants have been taking part in around exploitative play, we went on a trip to Hazelwood. We had a fantastic time learning about all the different trees and flowers. We met the wooden giant who had lots to treasures for us and even had a delicious bun ready for us at the end of our adventure. Junior Infants would like to say a big thank you to the IT students who kindly came along and helped us on our trip and to Trish for organising the trip for us.

Benbulben Braves In Hazelwood

The Benbulben Braves went on their trip to Hazelwood last Wednesday. It started as a mystery trip but they were quick to guess where we were going. At Hazelwood they went on an Autumn nature walk and did a quiz at the end. Who remembers what is special about the Holm oak tree?

We even learned how to skim stones on water.  Well done to all on the team. I wonder which team will win this term?

Senior Infants and 1st Class in Hazelwood

A group of ITSligo Students, who are studying “Physical Activity for Children” created some really fun activity classes for our Senior Infant and 1st classes. On October 23rd, they brought us to Hazelwood and Half Moon Bay for a nature walk and treasure hunt. We had to search for clues, find the answers to riddles, and decorate our sticks with found treasures. We used an information sheet with pictures and words, to find out the names of some of the leaves and seeds that we found. At the end, we discovered a pumpkin and some hidden treats!
