Happy Halloween!!!

Third class had a day full of fun and excitement today to celebrate Halloween. We learned about the history of Halloween and enjoyed some traditional Halloween games in class. We played ‘Grape Escape’ – trying not to knock the grape off the flour mountain, apple bobbing and stick the hat on the witch. We also made a traditional Halloween treat of chocolate apples….. Yum Yum!!

Happy Halloween from 3rd Class!!!

Halloween Fun in St Edward’s!

Halloween Fun in the Ark

Even though Halloween was last month, we are still talking about the great day we had in the Ark. We finished our spooky work and got ready to party with the rest of the school! We had so much fun, dancing, meeting family in the school and playing spooky games. Cant wait for next year!

We had great fun today in Junior Infants dressed up in our Halloween costumes. We enjoyed dancing in our classroom and bobbing for apples. We had great fun at our Halloween party in the hall. We played games and danced with our friends. We made witches hats using black paint, glitter, sequins and feathers. We made witches potions in the water area. Happy Halloween from everyone in Junior Infants!

Well done Student Council!

Following on from their first meeting earlier this month, our student council decided that their number one priority was to improve the goalposts that they use for training and for break times. They applied for permission to run a Halloween Fundraiser to cover the costs and it is happening on Friday 28th. Details below:

Please support this worthy cause!

October Fun in Room 10

October was a busy month for 2nd class learning about all things Autumn. We created Autumn trees inspired by the artist Picasso.

We went on many walks searching for signs of Autumn and we also went in search  for as many different materials  we could find on the school yard. We found everything on our checklist!

We made some delicious berry smoothies and dipped apples in melted chocolate – Yummy!

And finally,  we had the most fun on the day we broke up for our midterm break – celebrating Halloween at school. We dressed up and played games like ‘Pin the wart on the witch’ and ‘Musical Zombies’.  We put our hands into some mystery boxes and felt some creepy things too!

October in the Ark

What a busy month October has been. We started the month celebrating First Holy Communion in St. Josephs church. Two children from the Ark made their Communion and we had a wonderful day. Congratulations to all the children from 3rd Class.

Communion Art

Communion Art

We celebrated First Holy Communion in class the following Monday with a pizza party. We also two birthdays this month and enjoyed lots of chocolate cake!

We needed to get up and active after all those treats so we set up some circuits for P.E and went for some lovely Autumn nature walks and lovely colorful Autumn leaves.

Coillte in partnership with the Tree Council of Ireland and Spar gifted a Wild White Cherry Tree sapling to the school in honor of National Tree Week. The children from the Ark planted it in courtyard 3 and will transfer it to the green area in the school when it is big enough. We will take great care of it.

We were also quite busy with our school work this month and enjoyed new reading activities, visits to the Library and Math’s Week! We got busy with interactive whiteboard math activities and enjoyed the Math’s Trail organised by Ms Kelly.

The best part of the month was preparing for Halloween! We made lots of beautiful decorations, Tea light candle holders, carved pumpkins, enjoyed Halloween sensory activities and dressed up! So many scary Ghosts and Zombies and Werewolves!

That’s it for this month, looking forward to seeing what November brings!

October Fun – 4th Class 🍁🎃

We had another busy month having lots of fun in (and outside) Room 4.

We went outside looking for signs of Autumn and we also  made a list of any mini-beasts we could find living in our school yard.

We created Autumn Trees in Art. We have been collecting our pencil shavings over the past few weeks to use them as Autumn leaves.

Here is a slideshow of our Halloween celebrations and our Science experiment – we had some very sick pumpkins in Room 4 – they must’ve eaten a lot of treats!!

Happy Halloween everyone! 🎃

Halloween in Senior Infants

We had great fun in Senior infants learning about Autumn and Halloween. We made salt dough hedgehogs and painted them, sorted autumn leaves, conkers, cones and horse chestnuts. We went on an autumn walk around the school, collected leaves and used these leaves to make a squirrel’s tail.

For Halloween we painted pumpkins, made witches potions in water, made pumpkins using playdough and we wrote tricky words on pumpkins. On Friday we enjoyed bobbing for apples, rolling pumpkins and knocking the skittles, halloween activities on Seesaw, dancing to Halloween music and performing our Halloween rhyme on Zoom to the rest of the school. Here are a few photos. We hope you are all having a lovely Halloween break!
