Updated Guidelines- Household Close Contacts

Just to update you on some of the main changes to the updated guidelines, the full guidelines for children are here

When somebody in your house has a positive test (PCR or antigen)…..

  • If a child is a household contact, they must stay at home and restrict their movements for 14 days if the positive case cannot isolate away from them in the house. This would be the case in a lot of homes where a parents needs to continue to provide care for them.
  • Where the positive case can fully isolate from others in the house then the child need only restrict movements for 7 days
  • If your child is a household contact, you can apply online for free antigen tests and they will need to do a test every second day while restricting their movements. This is the link to get the tests.

Welcome Back!

Happy New Year to you all.

We are looking forward to welcoming all our pupils back to school tomorrow (Thursday) morning- School will reopen from 8.40 am.

As we reopen our school, all of us in St. Edward’s will continue to follow all of the Public Health & Dept. of Education Guidelines so as to keep our Pupils, Staff and the whole school community, as safe as possible.

Your role, as Parent/Guardian in assisting us is so important and we ask for your continued support in these very challenging times for us all. With very high numbers of Covid-19 in all communities, we ask that you please follow these necessary steps-

1) Adults – Please wear masks at all times in the car park and school surroundings.

2) Pupils in 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th Class should wear a clean, fresh mask to school every day, before entering the school grounds – Pupils should have a spare mask in their school bag also.

3) If your child is showing any signs/symptoms of Covid-19, PLEASE DO NOT SEND THEM TO SCHOOL – ring your GP for advice and to find out what you need to do next.

Click on this link from the HSE for important information about signs/symptoms to watch out for

We are very grateful for your cooperation and honest and open communication in all matters relating to Covid-19. We will continue to work with you, the Parents/Guardians to ensure that for your child, teaching and learning continues in St.Edward’s in a fun and exciting way, while keeping each other as safe as we can.

See you in the morning from 8:40am.

New COVID Testing Arrangements from Monday November 29th

The eldest in each family will have a letter in their bags this evening from the Department of Education explaining the changes coming into effect on Monday. You can read this  below, use the arrows at the bottom to access pages 2 and 3.

Main Points:

  1. Parents notify Principal if their child has had a positive PCR test
  2. Principal notifies parents of other children in that pod (3rd to 6th) and that class (infants to 2nd) without sharing the affected child’s details
  3. Notified parents are then invited to access 3 free antigen tests by post and test their child every second day for 5 days.
  4. Children can continue to come to school while taking antigen tests if they are symptom free

Remember:

  • Antigen tests should be used where children have NO symptoms.
  • If your child has symptoms, they must remain at home and a PCR test booked.

To ensure the safety of all children and Staff you are asked to come to the gate/wall at the car park side of school each morning and to wait there with your child. Ms Grimes will greet you at the gate and guide your child onto the school grounds and in the direction of their Camp Teacher.
At 2pm the Teachers and Ms Grimes will walk the children to the gate to meet their Parents.
Parents are kindly asked to remain outside the wall, in the car park side at all times and not to enter the school grounds when bringing children to Camp or when collecting at 2pm.
