In Junior Infants, we loved dressing up for World Book Day. We dressed up as our favourite characters from our favourite story books. We drew pictures of our favourite books and went to the Book Fair in the library in our school. We bought some new books from the Book Fair and we had a chance to look at some of the new books. We listened to fairytale stories read by one of our favourite authors Julia Donaldson. This was read, live on our screen in the classroom. On World Book Day, some of the 5th class children came down to our class and some of the us went up to the 5th class room and they read stories to us. We really enjoyed this. What a wonderful morning we had in The Parents Room with our wonderful Craft Class Group.
Sylvia (A parent of a Senior Infant pupil) kindly shared her talents and skills with us all as we learned some new skills.
We have started making some cotton line pieces and had such a great morning.
Class continues next Thursday at 9am in The Parents Room.
Well done ladies – you are all superstars ⭐️⭐️ & a big ‘Thank You’ to our wonderful tutor, Sylvia. 
Our Senior Infants and Ms. Walsh are very excited about their Storytime Programme which starts today, Monday for 20 weeks.
Each child will take home a new book , every Monday and Thursday, to share and enjoy at home with a Parent/Guardian. By the end of the 20 weeks, each child will have brought 40 books home and shared ‘StoryTime’ with their family.
On Friday morning last, Senior Infant Parents were invited to The Parents’ Room to chat to Ms. Browne, to find out more about the Programme and to have a cuppa. We chatted about the importance of spending a few minutes every evening with our children, looking at a book – talking about the pictures, the characters, imagining a different endiong to the story etc.
We were then treated to a fabulous story by Ms.Grimes, who read to the Senior Infant Class in The Library.
We all loved the book ‘A Squash and a Squeeze’ – thank you Ms. Grimes.
Remember to put away the phones and devices, find a quiet spot in your house and enjoy the book with your child.
Thursday is World Book Day and our Book Fair starts on Wednesday – the excitement is huge!! We love books and love to read – the greatest gift we can give our children is the gift of reading!
On Friday, we celebrated World Book Day. Some classes dressed up as their favourite character from their favourite book. We had a World Book Day Assembly in the hall where each class talked about activities they were doing in their own classes for World Book Day. Each class performed something different, Junior and Senior Infants retold their favourite story, 1st class acted out their favourite story, 2nd class performed choral speaking of letters they wrote, 3rd class gave us clues and we had to guess what character they were talking about, 4th class recited poems, 5th class talked about their favourite books they have read and 6th class talked about the characters they dressed up as. It was great fun!

We shared our favourite books from our class library with the 5th and 6th class children who came down to our classroom and read stories to us. We enjoyed going to our school library and choosing books. Ms Marren and Ms Cornyn read stories to us. We really enjoyed World Book Day!
Visit from a Puppeteer
A puppeteer who works on RTE Junior visited our school in March. We had great fun in Room 10, making puppets from recyclable materials easily found at home and at school.
Some really lovely Puppets went home with each of us that day!
Where’s Wally Hunt
To celebrate ‘World Book Day’ Mrs Mc Gowan spent a lot of time preparing a ‘Where’s Wally’ Hunt around the school for us. It was lovely to work in teams with 5th class pupils who helped and guided us as we found clues and followed the clues to collect all of the Wally pictures.

World Book Day Assembly & Freeze Frames for Drama
We had a really exciting World Book Day assembly in the hall.Can you believe that The Mad hatter from that wonderful story ‘Alice in Wonderland’ came to our assembly! Check out the pictures below if you don’t believe us!
Drama is great fun for all and as part of this special assembly each class chose a famous scene from a well known storybook to create in a ‘freeze frame’. the other classes had to guess what scene from what story we were creating.
