Maths Week 2024

To celebrate Maths Week 2024, third class invited parents to come in and play some Maths games. We had great fun together!

The children also enjoyed large Maths games in the school hall.

Maths Week in Rm 8

We have really enjoyed Maths week in room 8. The junior infants have been working very hard on their numbers, their shapes and have been learning how to play lots of maths games. This week we explore lots of story books that involved time and counting. We played the Giant Street Games in the hall with our friends and we also learned to play What Time Is It Mr Wolf? On Friday we created our very own 2D Shape Monsters and I think you’ll agree they look terrifically terrifying.

Maths Week in 3rd Class

For Maths Week in 3rd we focused on 2d shapes.

We revised  the properties of the square, rectangle, circle and triangle but also learned about the wide variety of 2 d shapes we can find all around us including hexagon, rhombus and a lot more.

We learned about the shapes in our environment, how to draw them, how to use geoboards to make them and how wonderful they can look in art!

Lego WeDo- The Ark

Last week Lego WeDo came to the Ark and we had lots of fun following the instructions on our iPad and using coding to make our creations light up, make noise and move!

Science & Maths Week in Room 3🔬

Every year we look forward to Maths & Science Week and the interesting activities that we get to do.

Maths Week was at the end of October. Maths is an important life skill and we use it everyday, from the time we get up in the morning until we go to bed.

During Maths Week we especially loved doing the Maths Trail outside and making our 3d shapes.

We loved using the Izak 9 cubes. Working in teams is always a great way to solve Maths problems.

During Science Week, we learned about potential and kinetic energy and made our own balloon zipline. Static electricity with balloons was fun to watch and a few people had crazy hair after it!!

Making a Skittle rainbow 🌈  was a colourful way to end the week.
