Storytime With Sligo Library

Today we had some visitors from Sligo Library to share Storytime with Junior Infants. We read lots of funny and interactive books and we even got to meet Winnie The Witch and Wilbur the Cat for a very special Storytime,  All the children really enjoyed getting to take part in the session and also received a beautiful picture book each to take home for bedtime reading.

A reminder to all parents that there are LOTS of  brilliant books for your children to explore at Sligo Library for free over the school holidays,  so call in and the amazing staff will look after you.

Junior and Senior Infant School Tour

We had an amazing time at Castle Adventure Farm last week. We got to see lots of different animals and we also got the chance to pet some of them. We even helped one of the farmers give a baby goat his bottle. Despite the rain we had loads of fun on the barrel ride, in the creative play shed and in the soft play area.  It was a very quiet bus ride home as we were all so tired after our super visit.

Infants Story Time

The infant classes had a great time when Sligo Library visited their classes for a story morning with songs and some sign language songs too. They read stories together and chatted about their favourite books and characters with Shannon from the Library.. The following week, the infant classes had the opportunity to visit Sligo Library in the town and explore the Library, do some colouring pages and visit the Museum on the grounds of the Library. They had a great time and it was wonderful to be able to visit the Library as it it a fantastic asset to have. This day out was finished off with a quick stop in the playground on the way home for some fun in the sun.

Green Schools Gardening

Today some of our Green Schools Committee, along with some volunteers, planted the first of our  School Garden bulbs. We planted garlic and onions today. These will hopefully be ready for harvesting in June. We will be putting a special cover over the bed to keep  the bulbs safe from the frost and cold weather over the coming months. Our next set of seeds to be planted will be in March. Let’s hope the weather has improved by then.

A Busy June in Junior Infants.

We had our School Tour in Junior Infants on Monday 12th June. We went to Castle Adventure Open Farm in Ballyshannon along with Senior Infants and two boys from the Ark. We enjoyed the bus journey to Ballyshannon, we had great fun in the magnificent playground which had go-carts and a tunnel slide. We had a train ride in barrels and we got to see loads of wonderful animals. We even got to pet some of the animals. Have a look at our slide show below.

On Friday 16th June we had our Family Fun Day, which started off with a Sponsored Walk. A big thank you to all the parent’s who joined us for this walk. When we arrived back from our walk the Ice Cream van had arrived and we had some yummy ice-cream from Mammy Johnston’s. Thank you to Mammy Johnston’s for the delicious ice-cream. Then we had some fun activities such as musical spots. Have a look at the slide show below.
