Summer Programme 2026

Summer Programme 2026 –  Full of Fun, Friendship and Adventure!

What an amazing Summer Camp we had this year! Our children enjoyed a fantastic few weeks filled with fun, laughter, learning and new experiences. Every day brought a new adventure, and there were smiles from start to finish.

We loved our visits to ATU, where the children enjoyed playing badminton and using the giant foam shapes to build, create and play together. It was a great way to stay active while having lots of fun.

A trip to Rosses Point Beach was one of the highlights of the camp. The children had a wonderful time building sandcastles, playing games in the sand and enjoying the fresh sea air with their friends.

Our visit to the skate park was another exciting adventure. Although it was a little bit of a walk, everyone agreed it was well worth it! The children loved exploring the park and cheering each other on.

We were delighted to make the most of the fantastic free summer events at Sligo Library. The children enjoyed listening to exciting stories and getting creative while building with LEGO.

Baking was always a favourite activity. The children made delicious sweet treats and were very proud of what they created. Many were excited to tell us they wanted to bake the recipes again at home with their families.

A very special day was spent at Five Star Fun, where the children climbed, slid and laughed their way through the indoor play centre. A tasty lunch made the trip even more memorable.

Our woodland adventure gave everyone the chance to explore nature, work together and enjoy the outdoors. One of the best parts of the day was making and eating delicious s’mores around the fire.

The fun continued with a visit to play crazy golf, where the children practised their best shots, encouraged one another and celebrated every hole-in-one!

Back at school, there were plenty of opportunities to get creative. The children made colourful bracelets, designed and decorated bottles, and took part in lots of arts and crafts activities that showed off their wonderful imaginations.

One of the most popular activities for the Infants was Imagination. The children loved dressing up, pretending to be different characters and creating their own stories through imaginative play. It was wonderful to see their creativity, confidence and teamwork grow.

Above all, the best part of Summer Camp was spending time with friends. Every day was filled with laughter, kindness and happy memories that we know the children will treasure.

A huge thank you goes to all of our teachers and SNAs for their enthusiasm, care and hard work in making Summer Camp such a success. We would also like to thank all of our parents and families for their continued support and for bringing the children to camp each day.

We hope everyone has a wonderful, relaxing and safe summer. Thank you to all the children for making Summer Camp 2026 so special—we can’t wait to see you all again!

Summer Holidays

We rounded off our last day of the school year with a final assembly to present attendance awards to those children who have not missed a single day and also to those children who have had excellent attendance. We talked about keeping safe this summer near water and while playing outdoors. We were feeling very happy and sang one of our favourite songs ” Can’t Stop the Feeling”. Some of us even danced our way out!

6th Class Graduation

We said good recently to our 6th class pupils with a lovely get together in the hall for themselves and their families. After a few words and some presentations, we shared lunch and a cuppa together and they rounded off the day with our traditional Alleyway of Applause on the school yard.

We wish you well 6th class, don’t forget us!

Infants tour to Funny Bones

Room 7,8,9 and junior children from the Ark enjoyed a fantastic trip to Funny Bones in Collooney. We played on the slides,enjoyed climbing on the frames and had a great game of football. Hungry after all the running around,we had some yummy chips.

We  returned to school exhausted after a great day.

The children were so well behaved. We are so proud of all of you!

Awards Assembly- June 22nd

We celebrated the achievements of lots of our pupils on Monday June 22nd with a whole school assembly. Well done to all our Reading Certificate winners from 3rd to 6th classes. Congratulations in particularly to our 6th class students Callum and Tahsin who received special recognition awards for their extensive reading adventures!

Ms Ferguson called out the winners of the Sports Day team competition. Points were awarded to teams based on their listening skills, leadership, cooperation and teamwork. Our Junior and Senior winners were delighted with their specially engraved medals.

Mr Slevin talked about the competitiveness and excitement which surrounded the knockout stages of our annual mini league. Congrats to Team ?? and Team ???, our eventual winners and runners up in a hard fought final.

Ms Kivlehan was supported by members of the Student Council who judged our recent poetry competition. There were winners from every class and 2 overall winners who read their poems for the entire school. Fantastic writing talent on display!

5th and 6th class school tour to Shannon River Adventure

5th and 6th class went on their school tour to Shannon River Adventure, Thursday the 18th of June. Under the supervision of safety instructors, the children took part in land and water based activities. They started their  adventurous School Tour with activities such as, scream races, obstacle courses, archery, rock climbing amongst other playground challenges and games. They later had a light snack before starting their water based activities such as mud sliding, pier jumping, canoeing and kayaking. The students of 6th class reported that their final school tour was one of the best they ever had. -Tommy Clancy of 6th Class. 

Golden Ticket Winners

Children are given a raffle ticket at break times by teachers and SNAs where they have been especially kind, helpful or caring towards others. All these go into a raffle once they have shown the ticket to their teachers and explained how they achieved it. Each Friday 2 Junior end children and 2 Senior end children are drawn from the box, their names go into the Golden Book in the Office and they are given a Golden Ticket. We had a treat day for our Golden Tickets winners from May where they had a lovely ice cream party in room 9 with Ms Davey.

Golden Ticket winners in June were treated to a trip this week to Supermacs for Sundaes! Thank you all for being such great role models for good decision making and following the rules on yard.

Ukulele Performance

3rd Class marked their last Ukulele lesson with Karl, their Music Generation teacher, with a performance for their parents and the rest of the school. We were so proud of them! They played a wide variety of songs from A Sailor Went to Sea to Waka Waka from Shakira to Sweet Caroline! 

The Music Generation Discovering and Performing Music Programme is a great opportunity to try out an instrument and learn about what it takes to develop music skills. We hope that this has inspired some of our group to go further with their ukulele skills or maybe even take up another instrument.

Thank you to their teachers Ms Walsh, Ms Golden and Ms Gray for their support on the Ukulele adventure. 

Cheering on Cian and Jordan

Today some of our classes walked to O’Boyle Park to cheer on the FTD brothers, Cian and Jordan as they began their Sligo leg of 32 marathons in Ireland in 32 days. 50% of all funds raised will go to The Alzheimer Society of Ireland, supporting families living with dementia.
