Have a look at our slideshow of photos from our last week in DALTA with the Junior and Senior Infants and the older children from our after 2:30 club. There was lots of music and the sun came out!
We are so pleased that St. Edward’s N.S. has achieved The Creative School’s Award for the second year in a row. The children love being involved in creative learning and we are so pleased that there is now a platform where we can share our creativity and have it recognised. We would like to thank all the children and teachers who contributed to our project this year and we are really looking forward to getting involved in the project again in 2015/16.
We had a fantastic ice-cream party in aid of Down Syndrome Ireland for which we raised €70. Thanks you so much to all the children in Junior Infants, Senior Infants and First Class who kindly donated to the cause.
6th class donated a small amount of their confirmation money to the north west hospice.A lady named Cathryn came in to collect a cheque of €130. She also told us some information.
There are only eight beds in the inpatient unit and the catchment area has a population of 110,000 people.
In 2014 ,they had a total of 84 volunteers.
More than 50% of the patients leave the hospice healthy again.
We know many patients will benefit from our donation.
3rd & 4th Class enjoyed a lovely nature walk this morning in Hazelwood.

The Movie Makers club have finished up for the summer and had a great time finding, scripting and rehearsing their favourite jokes. They used an app on the iPads called Sock Puppets to record animations of themselves and edited their final products using the iMovie app. They are very proud of their work. Prepare yourself for some laughs!

The children of 4th class in St. Edward’s NS have taken part in the ‘Something Fishy’ project this year. As part of the project, which also tied in with Sligo Tidy Towns, we made a beautiful mural which you can see on the front wall of the school. We learned about fish life, water quality and the importance of keeping our rivers pollution free. You can see parts 1 and 2 of the video of our project below:

Summer has arrived and Junior Infants are taking full advantage of the good weather. This week we took our maths lessons outside and explored our maths topic ‘capacity’ with lots of water basins and different types of containers. We had a lot of fun and learned lots of new maths vocabulary as well. Hopefully the good weather will hold out and we will have lots more opportunities to take our learning outside. 🙂
What a fantastic day! The sun beamed down on us today and we had a great turnout for our sponsored walk and festival fun. Thanks to everybody; children, parents and staff, who helped to organise and run the day. Special thanks to Emma Robinson our Sligo Rose who led out our walkers. Hover over the images in the collage below to see larger pics of the sponsored walk, food, cake sale and fun activities. Well done to all those who completed the treasure hunt on the walk, and the winner drawn out of the hat is….Seán Gethins in Senior Infants!
