Junior Achievement

Every Tuesday for the past four weeks, we have had Junior Achievement with Sinead Keiley from Abbott Ireland. The theme this year is ‘Our City’.

We have been learning about zones in cities eg business, industrial, multi purpose and residential.

We were restaurant owners for a day, architects and we also made a newspaper where we all wrote our own articles.

We had great fun learning with Sinead.

Measuring in 3rd Class

Last week we were how far a toy car would go when released from the top of a ramp. Mr Maye brought in ramps for us to use and we brought in the dinky cars.
We adjusted the slopes and used different surfaces in our experiment.
We measured the distance from the bottom of the ramp to the car.
This was a cool way of learning about length.

6th Class Visit to St. John’s

This year 6th were working alongside two artists to produce artwork in conjunction with St Johns in Ballytivnan. This year the theme of birds were chosen and children and the old folks in St. Johns made paper mache birds which were then attached to a wooden tree.

Six children from 6th class visited St Johns to see the work being done by the old folks, to talk to some of the participants and to show off some of their work in the gardens of St. Johns.

Seacthain na Gaeilge

Tháinig na  Naíonáin Shóisearacha agus na Naíonáin Shinsearacha le chéile agus rinne roinnt amhráin agus rannta le chéile. Baineamar an-taitneamh as!

Seacthain na Gaeilge agus Naomh Pádraig i Rang a Ceathair

Rinne Rang a Ceathar dráma ar shaol Naomh Pádraig. D’inis siad an scéal i mBéarla agus i nGaeilge. Fuair siad éadaí agus ghléas siad suas. Tháining ranganna eile chun an drama a fheiceáil. Thaitin an dráma go mór le gach duine.

Seachtain na Gaeilge

Tháinig Rang 1 agus Rang 2 le céile. Rinne Rang 1 an dráma “Cochaillín Dearg”. Rinne Rang 2 an dráma “Cinnín Óir”.  Ansin bhí a lán cluichí againn m. sh. “Isteach ‘s amach trí na cloighíní gorma”, ” Deir Ó grádaigh”, agus “An fharraige, an bád agus an trá”. Bhí an-sport againn.

Ag damhsa

Tá Rang a Dó ag cleachtadh Ionsaí na hInse. Baineamar an-taitneamh as an rince tradisiúnta.

After School Science Club

St Edwards After School Science Club experimented on how to make eggs float and sink. They made one egg float, one egg sink and one egg stay half way down in the water. Do you know how they did it?

Pancake Tuesday

For pancake Tuesday we made lots of yummy pancakes. We covered them with chocolate spread, syrup and lemon juice. They were absolutely delicious, if we do say so ourselves.

3rd Class: Pancake Tuesday

On Pancake Tuesday 3rd Class had a great time making pancakes.

First we had to write down the ingredients and the method. Then we had to measure and weigh our ingredients.

We cooked the mixture on the pan. We added our favourite toppings (chocolate spread and banana).
