A few weeks ago we got a chance to work in small groups with water containers. We had buckets, cups, bottles, lids, spoons and many other things to play with in the water. We had to fill, empty and measure containers to see how much would fit in each one. We also got a chance to see which containers would sink and float. It was great fun!
On Friday 17th May 6th class students received the sacrament of confirmation in St. Joseph’s Church. We were joined by children from St. Joseph’s N.S. and St. Brendan’s N.S. Bishop Christopher Jones, Fr. Noel and Fr. Hugh celebrated the ceremony with us. The school choirs from both schools helped make the day extra special for us. We enjoyed spending time with our family and friends after the ceremony.
The following Monday we had a confirmation party at school. We did not wear our uniforms to school. Teacher ordered pizzas for us and we watched a DVD.
On Wednesday the 22nd of May, the pupils of 3rd, 4th & 5th Class invited a guest speaker named Michael Bell from Ballymote to explain to them all about nature and Biodiversity.
“Biodiversity quite simply means the variety of life on earth. It includes everything that is alive such as plants, animals and you!
Biodiversity can also be used to describe how all living things in an area interact and the places in which they live.”
Michael gave each class a very interesting talk in the classroom and then brought the children on a tour of the school grounds where they had to listen and watch out for birds, look for bugs, identify the trees and a whole lot more.
A great day was had by all.
Here are a few pictures from 3rd class.
