6th Class Confirmation
On Friday 3rd June 6th class made their confirmation in St. Joseph’s Church. The St. Brendan’s and St. Edward’s school choir sang during the ceremony. It was a very special day for us.
We decided as a class to donate some of our confirmation money to a worthy cause. We raised 180 euro in total and agreed to donate it to St. John’s Hospital. This hospital is in our locality and many of our family and friends have been patients here. On Firday 17th June we presented the cheque to the Director of Nursing Marie O’ Grady and to the the Assistant Director of Nursing Sr. Antonieta. They told us that our money will be put into the patient comfort fund and will be used to pay for a day trip for the patients. Before we left Marie and Sr. Antonieta gave us each a treat from the shop.
Today, the students of St Edwards NS celebrated their Fáilte Festival, which had to be cancelled on Sunday, due to bad weather. We all had great fun.
We did our sponsored walk, had three bouncy castles, face painting and a barbecue.
1st Class really enjoyed themselves and had a fantastic time. They would like to thank everyone who helped organise the day…”Thank You”
On Sunday the 12th of June St. Edwards held their Art Exhibition in the school hall. Every child had a piece of artwork displayed.
Lots of parents and friends were there on the day to view the work. Thanks to all who supported the event.
We had a very colourful Friday last week in Junior Infants. In P.E. we played lots of games with the parachute outside in the sun.
In Art, we all painted some patches on Elmer the patchwork elephant from the story we have been reading. We also designed our own elephant skin!!
1st Class would like to say a big thank you to Joan Deehan who came into our class over the past few weeks and talked to us about ‘Our Community’ and also about our ‘Needs and Wants’.
Joan works in Abbott Ireland, a big pharmaceutical company, which has a site near our school here in Ballytivnan. She came to our class as part of the ‘Junior Achievement’ programme.
We really liked working with her.
Junior Infant teacher Ms. Duignan won an All-Ireland medal for figure-dancing in the Scor All-Ireland final held in Killarney on April 9th.
Junior Infants made a banner to congratulate their teacher.
Well done Ms. Duignan!
