We wish all the pupils, staff and their families a very Happy Christmas.
See you all in the New Year!
On Friday we came to school and there was a blanket of snow on the ground. Mr Maye said we would be building a snowman. We were delighted. We started off by rolling a big ball, then a medium ball and a small ball of snow for the head. We put them on top of each other and finished it off with some coal for his face, twigs for his arms and a hat on his head. We are very proud of our snowman. His name is Frosty.
On Friday 17th 6th class made snowmen for golden time. We went on to the school yard and we worked in teams. It was difficult to lift the head onto the snowman but with team work we succeeded. We decorated our snowmen using old glasses, gloves, buckets, cones and sticks. Here is a picture of the winning snowman and the winning team.
In fifth class we looked at pictures of racing yachts online. Then in groups we designed our own yacht that would move on land. We drew it on paper and then collected recycled materials that we could use to build them. When we were ready we raced them over a distance of 5m using a hairdrier. The fastest was Edward which was designed by Maija and Aaron. We think it was the fastest because the sail was a good shape and it caught the wind very well. Some of them didn’t travel as fast because the wheels were too tight or the sail was too small.
