Full Attendance

15 children in our school had full attendance this term.

Congratulations! Full attendance this term

Not even snow and freezing conditions could keep them away this week.

They got a big cheer at our Christmas assembly today.

Frosty the Snowman!

1st class and 'Frosty'

On Friday we came to school and there was a blanket of snow on the ground. Mr Maye said we would be building a snowman. We were delighted. We started off by rolling a big ball, then a medium ball and a small ball of snow for the head. We put them on top of each other and finished it off with some coal for his face, twigs for his arms and a hat on his head. We are very proud of our snowman. His name is Frosty.

Caroling in the Quayside

Carol singing in the Quayside Shopping Centre

Today we went carol singing in the Quayside Shopping Centre. Children from 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th classes sang. We sang nearly 40 songs! We collected money for our school and for Social Services. A lot of people said we were very nice singers and clapped for us.

The winning Snowman

The winning Snowman and the winning Team!

On Friday 17th 6th class made snowmen for golden time. We went on to the school yard and we worked in teams. It was difficult to lift the head onto the snowman but with team work we succeeded. We decorated our snowmen using old glasses, gloves, buckets, cones and sticks. Here is a picture of the winning snowman and the winning team.

Feeding the birds in Junior Infants

Designing and Making Land Yachts

Fifth class with our land YachtsIn fifth class we looked at pictures of racing yachts online. Then in groups we designed our own yacht that would move on land. We drew it on paper and then collected recycled materials that we could use to build them. When we were ready we raced them over a distance of 5m using a hairdrier. The fastest was Edward which was designed by Maija and Aaron. We think it was the fastest because the sail was a good shape and it caught the wind very well. Some of them didn’t travel as fast because the wheels were too tight or the sail was too small.
